Dia de andalucia

28 DE FEBRERO. DIA DE ANDALUCIA.

Sevilla es una torre
llena de arqueros finos.

Sevilla para herir.
Córdoba para morir.

Una ciudad que acecha
largos ritmos,
y los enrosca
como laberintos.

Como tallos de parra
encendidos.

I say goodbye to Arlés with my favourite painting of this artist.

After visiting this place my conclusion is that the interpretation that each one of us makes of a character, place or event is different, but all are equally valuable. The important thing is not being confined to the intimate vision of myself, but sharing it with others. We will probably discover nuances that will help us to see the reality in a wider way. And that is always enriching.

And I finish saying that this is my main reason for writing this blog. Offering you my vision of art, travel, characters etc... And doing this I get three things: express my sensitivity, share it, and allow others to share theirs with me.

Almendro en flor

Wednesday, February 22, 2012

Almendro en flor. Vincent Van Gogh. Oleo sobre lienzo.

Almond tree in flower. Vincent Van Gogh. Oil on canvas.

Van Gogh painted this picture to express emotion for the birth of his nephew. It has a  deep symbolism : where there is an outbreak there is life. The magic of these outbreaks is that almond flower blooms in February, in midwinter.

This picture is beautiful for what it is and what it symbolizes.

Gracias a Secondlife he podido cumplir parte de esos sueños.

In my childhood I always wanted to have a Doll's House.

In my childhood I wanted to be able to fly, and suddenly appear in the other side of the world. I dreamt about creating the streets I walked by, the buildings I saw, my clothes, my house furniture.

I dreamt I was able to change my hair, fingernails, costume color... in a second.

And above all I dreamt about visiting the rest of the world.

In my adulthood I dream about visiting museums, art galleries, dancing places. Travelling to historic and  paradisiac places and discovering spectacular environments in the countryside. Meeting people from all over the world and learning from other cultures.

Thanks to Secondlife I have been able to fulfil part of those dreams.

Buenos días

La luz / The light

In my opinion light is one of the most important elements in art. For example this image. Monet painted 33 versions of the Cathedral of Rouen in two years. The curious thing is that different intensity and direction of light leads to different versions of the same facade.

This can be applied not only to the painting, also for example to the lighting of a room: If we want an intimate or relaxing space will use a tenuous and indirect light. In the case of a shop we will light  differently  highlighting spaces. It is a fascinating and complex issue.

Noche estrellada. Starry night.

Some people say that the night is a time for creativity. Many artists choose the darkest hours to give free rein to their creations. I say that it will never  be the same a book written under natural light and another one written under a flexo. Neither better nor worse, just different.

I prefer night dreams, sleeping is part of the creative process.

Tomorrow a long day is waiting. Good night and sweet dreams.

Arlés. Asilo.

Sunday, February 19, 2012

Van Gogh stayed in this asylum after the famous incident with Gauguin when he cut himself a piece of ear.

Detalle del patio interior: cuadro y representación 3D.

Detail of the inner courtyard: painting and 3D representation.

Galerías interiores. Interior galleries.

I stop at this image. One of the peculiarities of Van Gogh was the use of the colour, he often used yellow and blue colors to create contrasts. Probably this not a realistic vision of the light, the volume and the shadows, but it is the subjective vision of Van Gogh.

There is a technique in painting called gradient, the Post-Impresionism ,which is the movement this author belongs to, tries to get the opposite: that the volume of objects is not created by levels of shadows but a contrast of colors. The result is a very personal vision of the image. Isn´t it?

And talking about shadows I deserve resting under the tree.

 Selena en la próxima estación

Queridos lectores:

Selena at the next station.

Dear readers:

It´s been a long time since I tought about writing these lines to explain my story.

Selena came to Secondlife two years ago, specifically on December 27, 2009. Curious, observant and critical, baby Selena began to analyze everything that this world offered to her. At the beginning everything was new, learning to move and communicate was quite a challenge.

Little by little she began to enjoy the scenery, new places and she was able to share these experiences with others. On one of these trips she met a place that would change her secondlife forever: Theatre on the Hill. You will find out why on the blog of this site: http://selenaattheatreonthehill.blogspot.com. As my profile says, it brings together the features that make Secondlife "an extra chocolate in the box of chocolates of my life". There I have great friends who I admire for their creativity, sensitivity and especially for always being there to understand that sometimes I am not as available as I would like. I love everyone, but Oliver Elton is special to me.

And at the same time to the discovery of this place Bob came to my life, I think this is the first time I speak about him. We met a few months after my birth. We explored together Secondlife and we have shared many evenings of conversation, laughter and anger. Thanks to this strange world I have been able to meet a wonderful person, he gives me great serenity. Talking to him has shown me a new way of communication. Unfortunately we live in different countries and we have never met, and this is something I think about lately. SecondLife is an important part of the communication but only a part. Time will say.

And the time, the curiosity, the discovery of Secondlife as a very useful platform and especially my love for art, travel and architecture led me to write a blog like this. If you look at  first paragraphs of this writing I change from writing about Selena as a third person to write in the first person. Selena is a part of me, an extra chocolate on my box of chocolates.

Just add a brief explanation of the blog. The name is the essence of its structure, Selena going from station to station, and expressing my experiences and feelings of what I see, feel and people I know, as well as some links, thoughts or other things. Between station and station it is included an interesting recommendation.

A long letter which ends with a huge THANKS to all those who share this adventure with me.

This place is full of light. I guess that Van Gogh wanted exactly this when he arrived here. I am in direct contact with nature and the Sun.
